Judge´s recovery taking longer than expected

Aaron Judge's recovery from a broken wrist is taking longer than expected, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed.

Yankees and MLB All-Star slugger Judge suffered a bone chip fracture in his right wrist after being hit by a pitch from Kansas City Royals starter Jake Junis on July 26.

The initial prognosis suggested for Judge to miss three weeks, which would have had him returning Thursday.

But Cashman said the Yankees "undershot" that estimate, telling WFAN: "I doubt he hits the ground running.

Cashman added that Judge received a cortisone shot, which should help with the pain, according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone.

"His range of motion is really good right now, but getting to that end point we got to get that pain out of there," Boone told MLB.com.

"Once that happens, he’ll get a bat in his hands. Hopefully it starts to progress from there very quickly."

The Yankees are 10-8 without Judge these past three weeks.
