Guardiola delighted to maintain rhythm after international break

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is delighted with the way his all-conquering side responded after the international break to dispatch Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.

City had won nine Premier League games in a row before the enforced two-week break, but any fears that they would not be able to continue their stunning form were dispelled as goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne put the Foxes to the sword.

Guardiola's side rarely looked in danger of not picking up three points with Harry Maguire's deflected effort against the post the only significant scare in a comfortable win.

"The international break is always complicated, especially if you play away," the Spaniard told Match of the Day.

"It is complicated to defend against Leicester but we did really well. We did not concede one chance in 90 minutes.

"We missed the last pass, the last action but we arrive with lots of players attacking the back four. We continue with our good rhythm in terms of points and the way we play."

De Bruyne's superb long-range strike was his third league goal in what is turning out to be a sparkling campaign and the Belgian is impressed with the confidence his team-mates are playing with.

"We controlled the game for 90 minutes," he added.

"It is not easy against Leicester because they play very direct. We didn't create too many chances but our second half was very good.

"We are feeling confident in the way we are playing. It is a busy schedule but we are doing really well."
