Miller-Uibo shines as Semenya sets record in Eugene

Shaunae Miller-Uibo was left satisfied after an impressive win in the women's 400 metres at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene, while Caster Semenya broke a record.

Miller-Uibo powered to her victory in 49.52 seconds, the Bahamian beating Phyllis Francis (50.81secs) and Shakima Wimbley (50.84secs).

The 24-year-old – who won gold at the 2016 Olympics – was pleased with her success.

"I feel like I've gotten really strong this year and the race just felt really great," Miller-Uibo said, via the Diamond League website.

"There are some things to work on going forward but for this early in the season I will take that."

Semenya set a meeting record on her way to winning the women's 800 metres in Oregon.

The South African's time of one minute, 55.92 seconds is also a new world lead, as she held off Ajee Wilson and Francine Niyonsaba.

Genzebe Dibaba was a convincing winner in the women's 5,000 metres, leaving fellow Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey behind.
